Sarah Freia is a
published author, poet, and screenwriter.

Sarah is a highly skilled writer, who has been published in print, and in online publications. She has sold screenplays, and has currently been hired as the lead writer on a brand new sitcom.

Select publications in which her work has been featured include Wild Greens Magazine, Soft Star Magazine, Ampersand Press, The Uncoiled, The Belle Ringer, Curio Cabinet Magazine, among others. “Girlfriend From Hell” - her screenplay sold to Lightwalker Films - is currently in development.

Sarah Freia’s Writing Training

Sarah Freia has lived and studied in Paris, London, and Toronto. On top of her extensive acting, singing, and dance training, she has received formal education in Literature and Writing, most recently at Oxford University (Exeter College).

She recently graduated with an International B.A. in French and Hispanic literature and a French B.Ed (Sorbonne Université/ Glendon Campus - l’Université York), and has continued to hone her written craft by enrolling at Gotham Writers Workshop and The Second City Conservatory.

Sarah has experience writing in diverse genres and mediums. She was recently chosen to collaborate as a writer (and perform a lead role) in an original musical theatre production entitled “8 Gays of Channukah - The Musical”. Since its premiere, it has been featured in prominent media outlets, including The Toronto Star, CBC, and, Queer FM BC. It has also received official recognition and letters of support from the Prime Minister of Canada, Justin Trudeau, Ontario Premier Doug Ford, and Toronto Mayor Olivia Chow. In 2025, the production made its West Coast debut in Vancouver as the opening performance of an international performing arts festival. Talks are currently being had to begin touring the production.

Sarah is also a prolific screenwriter. Her first feature film script “Girlfriend from Hell” (Lightwalker Films and Screaming Goat Films) is currently in production. She is also the co-writer on a brand new sitcom called “Motel Coastal” (DTRM), and will begin work on another feature “Scarlett” shortly.
